Description
The investment seeks capital preservation and current income, consistent with Islamic principles; capital preservation is its primary objective. Under normal conditions, the fund invests at least 80% of its assets in short and intermediate-term Islamic income producing investments. It invests at least 65% of its assets in securities rated within the four highest grades (Aaa, Aa, A, Baa) by a nationally-recognized rating agency and may invest up to 35% in unrated and high-yield notes and certificates, which may be considered equivalent to "junk bonds." The fund is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to track the investment results of the Markit iBoxx Global Developed Markets High Yield Index. The fund generally will invest at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and may invest up to 10% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents, including shares of money market funds advised by BFA or its affiliates. The index is a rules-based index consisting of high yield corporate bonds denominated in U.S. dollars, euros, British pounds sterling and Canadian dollars.
