The investment seeks maximum long-term capital appreciation. The fund seeks to achieve its objective by normally investing at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings made for investment purposes) in equity securities of micro-cap companies. It currently defines micro-cap companies as those with market capitalizations comparable to companies included in the Russell Microcap Growth Index.
The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation; current income is a secondary consideration in selecting portfolio investments. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in the equity securities of those companies with total operating revenues of $250 million or less at the time of the initial investment, ("small companies"). It typically invests in common stocks. The advisor seeks to build a portfolio of exceptional small companies with the wherewithal to become exceptional large companies. The fund typically holds a portfolio of between 40 to 65 securities which the advisor believes have the potential for growth.
The investment seeks superior long-term growth of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets plus any borrowings for investment purposes in the following equity (or equity-related) securities: Common stocks of U.S. corporations that are judged by the investment adviser to have strong growth characteristics or to be undervalued in the marketplace relative to underlying profitability and have a market capitalization which, at the time of purchase, is consistent with the capitalization ranges of the S&P SmallCap 600® and Russell 2000® Indices; Options on, or securities convertible into, the common stock of small-cap companies, etc.
