The investment seeks to provide a high current return. Under normal circumstances, the fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in securities issued, backed or otherwise guaranteed by the U.S. government, or its agencies or instrumentalities. It invests primarily in mortgage-backed securities ("MBS") issued, backed or otherwise guaranteed by the U.S. government or its agencies or instrumentalities or privately issued but collateralized by fixed or adjustable rate mortgages that are insured, guaranteed or otherwise backed by the U.S. government, or its agencies or instrumentalities.
The investment seeks current income and safety of principal. The fund invests exclusively in U.S. government securities, which are securities issued, guaranteed or insured by the U.S. government, its agencies or instrumentalities. It invests a substantial portion of its assets in pass-through securities. The Adviser attempts to maintain an average effective duration for the portfolio of approximately 2 to 5 years. The fund's dollar-weighted average maturity will, under normal market conditions, range between 15 and 25 years.
