The investment seeks to maximize total returns available from the universe of debt obligations of the U.S. government and U.S. government agencies consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund seeks to maximize risk-adjusted total returns from a universe of obligations of the U.S. government and its agencies maturing in two years or less. It normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in government securities that mature within two years from the date of settlement. The fund may invest in futures contracts and options on futures contracts.
The investment seeks a high level of current income in a manner consistent with preservation of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in securities included in the Barclays® U.S. 1-5 Year Treasury Bond Index. It normally maintains a dollar-weighted average maturity of three years or less. The fund uses statistical sampling techniques based on duration, maturity, interest rate sensitivity, security structure, and credit quality to attempt to replicate the returns of the Barclays® U.S. 1-5 Year Treasury Bond Index using a smaller number of securities.
The investment seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the Bloomberg Barclays 1-5 Year U.S. Treasury Index. The fund invests at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the index or in securities that the Adviser determines have economic characteristics that are substantially identical to the economic characteristics of the securities that comprise the index. The index is designed to measure the performance of public obligations of the U.S. Treasury that have a remaining maturity of greater than or equal to 1 year and less than 5 years. The fund is non-diversified.
