The investment seeks current income exempt from federal and state income taxes for North Carolina residents consistent with capital preservation. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in municipal securities with income exempt from U.S. federal and North Carolina state income taxes. It may invest up to 20% of its assets in securities subject to the U.S. federal alternative minimum tax. The fund may also invest a portion of its net assets in certain taxable debt securities. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to provide a high and stable level of income exempt from federal and North Carolina personal income taxes derived from North Carolina municipal securities without incurring undue risk to principal. The fund seeks to provide a steady flow of tax-exempt income derived from North Carolina municipal securities of investment grade quality (those rated BBB or Baa or higher by U.S. nationally recognized rating services at the time of purchase) with a nominal maturity normally greater than 10 years. The fund is non-diversified.
