It invests at least 70% of its assets in municipal bonds rated, at the time of purchase, investment grade (Baa/BBB or higher) or the unrated equivalent as determined by the Dreyfus Corporation. The fund is non-diversified.
The investment seeks a high level of current income exempt from federal income tax and Maryland personal income taxes. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in investment-grade municipal securities whose interest is exempt from federal and Maryland personal income taxes. It allocates assets across different market sectors and maturities. The fund potentially invests more than 25% of total assets in municipal securities that finance similar types of projects. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to provide Virginia investors with a high level of current interest income that is exempt from federal and Virginia state income taxes. The fund invests primarily in long-term investment-grade securities issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, its political subdivisions, instrumentalities, and by other government entities, the interest on which is exempt from federal income tax and Virginia state income tax. At least 80% of the fund's net assets will consist of Virginia tax-exempt securities. The fund's dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity is not restricted, but is expected to be greater than 10 years.
