The investment seeks current income exempt from federal and state income taxes for Virginia residents consistent with capital preservation. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in municipal securities, including securities subject to the U.S. federal alternative minimum tax, with income exempt from regular U.S. federal income tax and Virginia commonwealth income tax. It may invest a portion of its net assets in certain taxable debt securities. The fund's average weighted maturity will range from 5 to 10 years but there is no limit on the maturities of individual securities.
The investment seeks to provide Virginia investors with a high level of current interest income that is exempt from federal and Virginia state income taxes. The fund invests primarily in long-term investment-grade securities issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia, its political subdivisions, instrumentalities, and by other government entities, the interest on which is exempt from federal income tax and Virginia state income tax. At least 80% of the fund's net assets will consist of Virginia tax-exempt securities. The fund's dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity is not restricted, but is expected to be greater than 10 years.
