The investment seeks to maximize current income exempt from federal, New York State and New York City income taxes to the extent consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in municipal bonds that provide income exempt from federal, New York State and New York City income taxes and the federal alternative minimum tax. It invests at least 70% of its assets in municipal bonds rated, at the time of purchase, investment grade or the unrated equivalent as determined by The Dreyfus Corporation. The fund is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to provide current income that is exempt from both federal and New York personal income taxes. The fund invests primarily in high-quality municipal bonds issued by New York state and local governments, as well as by regional governmental and public financing authorities. It invests at least 80% of its assets will be invested in securities whose income is exempt from federal and New York state taxes. Although the fund has no limitations on the maturities of individual securities, its dollar-weighted average maturity is expected to be between 10 and 25 years. It is non-diversified.
