The investment seeks interest income that is exempt from federal income tax. The fund invests primarily in investment-grade securities, the interest from which is exempt from federal income tax (referred to herein as "tax-exempt securities"). During normal market conditions, at least 80% of its net assets will consist of tax-exempt securities. The fund's dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity is three years or less. At least 80% of the fund's annual net investment income dividends will be excludable from gross income for federal income tax purposes and from the calculation of federal alternative minimum taxes for individual taxpayers.
The investment seeks as high a level of current income, exempt from federal income tax, as is consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in investment-grade municipal securities whose interest is exempt from federal income tax. It invests more than 25% of total assets in municipal securities that finance similar types of projects. The fund allocates assets across different market sectors and maturities. It liquidates shortly after the fund's target end-date of June 30, 2017.
The investment seeks to provide a high level of current income exempt from Federal income tax by investing primarily in intermediate-term investment grade municipal bonds. The fund normally will invest at least 80% of the fund's net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in securities the interest of which is exempt from Federal income taxes and that do not subject shareholders to the federal alternative minimum tax ("AMT"). It may invest up to 20% of its assets in securities that may fully subject shareholders to Federal income tax, including the AMT. The fund is non-diversified.
