The investment seeks total return. The adviser attempts to achieve a positive total return in diverse market environments over time. It may actively engage in short-term trading to take advantage of opportunities in the municipal market. The fund will invest at least 80% of its assets in municipal securities. It may invest at least 50% of the fund's net assets in securities that, at the time of purchase, are rated investment grade or better or the unrated equivalent. The fund may also invest up to 20% of its assets in a wide variety of taxable debt securities of issuers from the U.S. and other markets, both developed and emerging.
The investment seeks current income that is exempt from federal personal income taxes, with limited price volatility. The fund has no limitations on the maturity of individual securities, but is expected to maintain a dollar-weighted average maturity of 1 to 2 years. At least 75% of the securities held by the fund are municipal bonds in the top three credit-rating categories as determined by a nationally recognized statistical rating organization or, if unrated, determined to be of comparable quality by the advisor.
The investment seeks as high a level of current income, exempt from federal income tax, as is consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in investment-grade municipal securities whose interest is exempt from federal income tax. It invests more than 25% of total assets in municipal securities that finance similar types of projects. The fund allocates assets across different market sectors and maturities. It liquidates shortly after the fund's target end-date of June 30, 2017.
