The investment seeks a high level of current income, consistent with relatively low volatility of principal that is exempt from regular federal income tax. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets plus any borrowings for investment purposes in fixed income securities issued by or on behalf of states, territories and possessions of the United States and the political subdivisions, agencies and instrumentalities thereof, the interest on which is exempt from regular federal income tax, and is not a tax preference item under the federal alternative minimum tax.
The investment seeks as high a level of current income exempt from Federal income tax as is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund will invest at least 80% of the value of its net assets (including borrowings for investment purposes) in intermediate and long-term obligations of the states, territories and possessions of the United States, the District of Columbia and their political subdivisions, agencies, instrumentalities and authorities that pay interest that is exempt from regular Federal income tax, but may be subject to Federal alternative minimum tax. The adviser expects to maintain a dollar-weighted average maturity of 3 to 10 years.
The investment seeks current income that is exempt from federal personal income taxes, with limited price volatility. The fund has no limitations on the maturity of individual securities, but is expected to maintain a dollar-weighted average maturity of 2 to 6 years. At least 75% of the securities held by the fund are municipal bonds in the top three credit-rating categories as determined by a nationally recognized statistical rating organization or, if unrated, determined to be of comparable quality by the advisor. The remaining 5% may be invested in securities with lower credit ratings or, if unrated, determined to be of comparable quality by the advisor.
