The investment seeks to maximize current income exempt from federal income tax to the extent consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund normally invests substantially all of its net assets in municipal bonds that provide income exempt from federal personal income tax. It invests only in municipal bonds rated investment grade (Baa/BBB or higher) at the time of purchase or the unrated equivalent as determined by the Dreyfus Corporation. The fund invests principally in municipal bonds with remaining maturities of five years or less and generally maintains a dollar-weighted average portfolio maturity of two to three years. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to provide investment results that, before fees and expenses, correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the Barclays Managed Money Municipal Short Term Index. The fund invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the index or in securities that the Sub-Adviser determines have economic characteristics that are substantially identical to the economic characteristics of the securities that comprise the index. The index tracks the short term tax exempt municipal bond market and provides income that is exempt from federal income taxes. The fund is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the Bloomberg Barclays AMT-Free Short Continuous Municipal Index. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its total assets in fixed income securities that comprise the index. The index is comprised of publicly traded municipal bonds that cover the U.S. dollar denominated short-term tax-exempt bond market.
