Description
The investment seeks to provide safety of principal and maximize total return after taking account of federal taxes. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in municipal securities. It invests at least 80% of its total assets in municipal securities rated A, or better by national rating agencies, and comparably rated municipal notes. The fund may invest up to 20% of its total assets in fixed-income securities rated BB or B by national rating agencies, which are not investment-grade (commonly known as "junk bonds").
The investment seeks as high a level of current income exempt from Federal income tax as is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund will invest at least 80% of the value of its net assets (including borrowings for investment purposes) in intermediate and long-term obligations of the states, territories and possessions of the United States, the District of Columbia and their political subdivisions, agencies, instrumentalities and authorities that pay interest that is exempt from regular Federal income tax, but may be subject to Federal alternative minimum tax. The adviser expects to maintain a dollar-weighted average maturity of 3 to 10 years.
The investment seeks to provide a high level of current income exempt from Federal income tax by investing primarily in intermediate-term investment grade municipal bonds. The fund normally will invest at least 80% of the fund's net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in securities the interest of which is exempt from Federal income taxes and that do not subject shareholders to the federal alternative minimum tax ("AMT"). It may invest up to 20% of its assets in securities that may fully subject shareholders to Federal income tax, including the AMT. The fund is non-diversified.
