Description
The investment seeks to maximize current income exempt from federal income tax to the extent consistent with the preservation of capital. The fund normally invests substantially all of its assets in municipal bonds that provide income exempt from federal income tax. It invests at least 70% of its assets in municipal bonds rated, at the time of purchase, investment grade (Baa/BBB or higher) or the unrated equivalent as determined by The Dreyfus Corporation.
The investment seeks a high and sustainable level of current income that is exempt from federal personal income taxes. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in investment-grade municipal bonds, as determined by a nationally recognized statistical rating organization (NRSRO) (e.g., Baa or higher by Moody's Investors Service, Inc. (Moody's)) or, if unrated, determined to be of comparable quality by the advisor. Up to 20% of the fund's assets may be invested in bonds that are rated less than investment grade by an NRSRO (e.g., less than Baa by Moody's) or, if unrated, determined to be of comparable quality by the advisor.
The investment seeks a high level of current interest income that is substantially exempt from regular federal income taxes and is consistent with preservation of capital. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in investment-grade quality municipal securities that pay interest that is exempt from regular federal income tax. It may invest up to 20% of its net assets in below investment grade municipal securities as well as up to 20% of its net assets in securities that produce income subject to federal income tax. The fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in other investment companies, including closed-end funds and ETFs.
