The fund invests at least 80% of its total assets in securities whose interest is free from federal income taxes, including the federal alternative minimum tax. It only buys municipal securities rated, at the time of purchase, in one of the top four ratings categories by one or more U.S. nationally recognized rating services.
The investment seeks a high level of current income exempt from federal income tax and Minnesota personal income tax. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in investment-grade municipal securities whose interest is exempt from federal and Minnesota personal income taxes. It manages the fund to have similar overall interest rate risk to an index designed to represent Fidelity Management & Research Company's view of how the fund's competitive universe will perform over time. The fund allocates assets across different market sectors and maturities. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks a high level of interest income that is exempt from both federal and state income tax for individual residents of the state of Minnesota; it also seeks income that is not a tax preference item for purposes of the federal alternative minimum tax. At least 80% of the fund's net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) will be invested in municipal securities that pay interest that is exempt from federal income tax and is not a Tax Preference Item, and any applicable state income tax for individual residents of the state of Minnesota. However, the fund typically attempts to invest all of its assets in such securities.
