The investment seeks high current income exempt from federal and California income tax. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in debt securities whose interest is, in the opinion of bond counsel for the issuer at the time of issuance, exempt from regular federal income tax and California income tax. It may invest in Fixed Income Instruments which include bonds, debt securities and other similar instruments issued by various U.S. and non-U.S. public- or private-sector entities. The fund may invest in derivative instruments, such as options, futures contracts or swap agreements, or in mortgage- or asset backed securities. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks investment results that generally correspond (before fees and expenses) to the price and yield of the BofA Merrill Lynch California Long-Term Core Plus Municipal Securities Index. The fund generally will invest at least 80% of its total assets in municipal securities that comprise the underlying index and that also are exempt from the federal AMT. The underlying index is composed of U.S. dollar-denominated, investment grade, tax-exempt debt publicly issued by California or any U.S. territory or their political subdivisions, in the U.S. domestic market with a term of at least 15 years remaining to final maturity. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks high current income that is exempt from federal and California income taxes. The fund invests at least 80% of the fund's net assets in municipal securities with income payments exempt from federal and California income taxes. It invests in California municipal and other debt securities with an emphasis on high-yield securities. A high-yield security is one that has been rated below investment-grade, or determined by the investment advisor to be of similar quality. The portfolio managers also may buy unrated securities if they determine such securities meet the investment objectives of the fund. The fund is non-diversified.
