The investment seeks to generate above-average returns through capital appreciation, while also attempting to reduce volatility and preserve capital during market downturns. The fund invests in a diversified portfolio of long positions in the common stock of U.S. companies that the Adviser believes are high quality and priced well below their intrinsic value; and short positions in the common stock of U.S. companies that the Adviser believes are low quality and priced well above their intrinsic value. It will invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus the amount of any borrowing for investment purposes, in long and short positions in equity securities.
The investment seeks to replicate, net of expenses, the Credit Suisse Tremont Long/Short Equity Hedge Fund Index. The index tracks the performance of non-hedge fund, transparent market measures.
The investment seeks absolute return consistent with reasonable risk to principal. The fund normally invests at least 80% of the value of its net assets (including borrowings for investment purposes) in long and short positions with respect to equity securities, such as common stocks, of U.S. public companies. It will invest in companies with market capitalizations, at the time of purchase, that are within the market capitalization range of any stock in the Russell 3000® Index.
