The investment seeks to provide high current income with capital appreciation. The fund invests primarily in fixed income securities, including, but not limited to, corporate bonds, mortgage-backed securities and government and agency bonds and notes. These obligations may include U.S. dollar-denominated instruments issued in the U.S. by foreign banks and branches and foreign corporations. Other security types may include fixed-rate preferred stock and municipal bonds. Normally, the fund will invest at least 80% of its assets in these types of instruments.
The investment seeks preservation of principal with a reasonable level of current income. The fund invests primarily (80% or more of its net assets, including the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes) in investment-grade debt securities of domestic issuers, including the U.S. government and its agencies and instrumentalities, corporations and municipalities and money market instruments. It may invest up to 20% of its net assets in equity securities (which include preferred stocks, common stocks paying dividends and securities convertible into common stock) of domestic issuers or U.S. dollar-denominated foreign issuers of any market capitalization.
The investment seeks a high level of current income consistent with safety and preservation of capital. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings for investment purposes) in a diversified portfolio of bonds and other fixed income instruments. Fixed income instruments may include, but are not limited to, U.S. Treasuries and Agency debt, debt of government-related entities, corporate bonds, commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities, convertible bonds and asset-backed securities. The fund invests mainly in domestic securities, and to a lesser extent may also invest in U.S. dollar denominated foreign securities.
