The investment seeks a high total return. The fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in mortgage securities. It invests substantially in mortgage securities that are issued or guaranteed by the U.S. government, its agencies or instrumentalities, which include mortgage pass-through securities representing interests in "pools" of mortgage loans issued or guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae), Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac. The fund may invest up to 15% of its net assets in foreign securities, which may include non-U.S. dollar denominated foreign mortgage securities.
The investment seeks to maximize total return (capital appreciation and income) consistent with reasonable risk. The fund will seek capital appreciation and current income in the advisor's attempt to maximize total return. It will invest, under normal circumstances, at least 80% of its net assets in bonds and other fixed-income securities. The fund primarily invests in investment grade domestic debt obligations. The fund's dollar-weighted average maturity, under normal circumstances, will range between three and fifteen years.
