The investment seeks to provide a high level of current income consistent with prudent investment risk and preservation of capital. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in securities that are guaranteed or sponsored by the U.S. government, its agencies and instrumentalities, including bonds and other debt securities denominated in U.S. dollars, which may be represented by other investment instruments, including derivatives. It may also invest in mortgage-backed securities issued by federal agencies and instrumentalities that are not backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government. It invests in debt securities with a wide range of maturities.
The investment seeks to track as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the Barclays U.S.3-10 Year Treasury Bond Index. The fund invests at least 90% of its net assets in securities included in the index. The index includes all publicly-issued U.S. Treasury securities that have a remaining maturity of greater than or equal to three years and less than ten years, are rated investment grade, and have $250 million or more of outstanding face value. The securities in the index must be denominated in U.S. dollars and must be fixed-rate and non-convertible.
The investment seeks to provide investment results that, before fees and expenses, correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the Barclays Intermediate U.S. Treasury Index. The fund generally invests substantially all, but at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the index or in securities that the Adviser determines have economic characteristics that are substantially identical to the economic characteristics of the securities that comprise the index. The index measures the performance of public obligations of the U.S. Treasury that have a remaining maturity of greater than or equal to 1-10 years. It is non-diversified.
