The investment seeks long-term capital growth by investing in a worldwide and diversified portfolio of health sciences companies. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets (plus any borrowings for investment purposes) in securities of companies principally engaged in the discovery, development, production or distribution of products related to scientific advances in health care, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, managed health care and medical equipment and supplies. It concentrates (that is, invests at least 25% of its assets) its investments in medical research and the health care industry.
The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in the stocks of companies principally engaged in the development, production, or distribution of products and services related to the health care industry. These companies include, among others, pharmaceutical firms, medical supply companies, and businesses that operate hospitals and other health care facilities. It may also consider companies engaged in medical, diagnostic, biochemical, and other research and development activities. The fund may invest up to 50% of its assets in foreign stocks.
The investment seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the performance of the S&P 500® Equal Weight Index Health Care Total Return. The underlying index is an unmanaged equal weighted version of the S&P 500® Health Care Index that consists of the common stocks of the following industries: health care equipment and supplies, health care providers and services, and biotechnology and pharmaceuticals that comprise the Health Care sector of the S&P 500® Index. The fund is non-diversified.
