The investment seeks long-term growth of capital. Royce & Associates, LLC ("Royce"), the fund's investment adviser, invests the fund's assets primarily in equity securities issued by companies headquartered outside of the United States with stock market capitalizations up to $3 billion. Normally, the fund invests at least 80% of its net assets in equity securities of companies with stock market capitalizations up to $3 billion at the time of investment. Under normal market conditions at least 65% of the fund's net assets will be invested in equity securities of international companies headquartered in at least three different countries.
The investment seeks to track as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the total return of the FTSE Developed Small Cap ex US Liquid Index. The fund will invest at least 90% of its net assets in stocks, including depositary receipts representing securities of the index; such depository receipts may be in the form of American Depositary receipts, Global Depositary receipts and European Depositary receipts. The index is comprised of small capitalization companies in developed countries outside the United States.
The investment seeks to track the performance of a benchmark index that measures the investment return of stocks of international small-cap companies. The fund employs an indexing investment approach designed to track the performance of the FTSE Global Small Cap ex US Index, a float-adjusted, market-capitalization-weighted index designed to measure equity market performance of international small-capitalization stocks. The index included 3,321 stocks of companies located in 43 countries, including both developed and emerging markets.
