The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation. Under normal market conditions, the fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus any borrowings for investment purposes, in equity securities of companies with small capitalizations. This investment policy may be changed by the fund upon 60 days' prior written notice to shareholders. The equity securities in which the fund invests are primarily common stocks. Under normal market conditions, it will invest in at least three countries and at least 40% of its assets will be invested in non-U.S. companies.

The fund will invest at least 90% of its net assets in stocks, including depositary receipts representing securities of the index; such depository receipts may be in the form of American Depositary receipts, Global Depositary receipts and European Depositary receipts. The index is comprised of small capitalization companies in developed countries outside the United States.
The investment seeks to track the performance of a benchmark index that measures the investment return of stocks of international small-cap companies. The fund employs an indexing investment approach designed to track the performance of the FTSE Global Small Cap ex US Index, a float-adjusted, market-capitalization-weighted index designed to measure equity market performance of international small-capitalization stocks. The index included 3,321 stocks of companies located in 43 countries, including both developed and emerging markets.
