The investment seeks total return with an emphasis on high current income, but also considering capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets (i) in debt instruments of issuers that are tied economically to emerging market countries and denominated in local currencies and (ii) in derivative instruments with similar economic characteristics to these instruments. Emerging market countries include countries located in Latin America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and developing countries of Europe, primarily Eastern Europe. It is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to track the investment results of the Bloomberg Barclays Emerging Markets Broad Local Currency Bond Index composed of local currency denominated, emerging market sovereign bonds. The fund generally will invest at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and may invest up to 10% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents, including shares of money market funds advised by BFA or its affiliates. The index measures the performance of local currency-denominated sovereign bond markets of emerging market countries. The fund is non-diversified.
The investment seeks a high level of total return consisting of both income and capital appreciation. The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective through investment in bonds and other debt instruments denominated in the local currencies of emerging market countries. Under normal circumstances, it will invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, in Local Debt. The Advisor attempts to maintain aggregate portfolio duration of between two and ten years under normal market conditions. It is non-diversified.
