The fund generally will invest at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and may invest up to 10% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents, including shares of money market funds advised by BFA or its affiliates. The index tracks the performance of the below-investment-grade U.S. dollar-denominated emerging market sovereign and corporate high yield bond market. The fund is non-diversified.
The investment seeks to provide high income and capital appreciation. The fund will normally invest at least 80% (and potentially all) of its net assets (including any borrowings for investment purposes) in debt securities of emerging market governments or companies located in emerging market countries. The fund's investments in debt securities typically consist of corporate and sovereign bonds. The advisor considers frontier markets to be a subset of emerging markets and any investments in frontier markets will be counted toward the fund's 80% investment policy.
