The investment seeks current income and, secondarily capital appreciation. Under normal circumstances, the fund will invest at least 80% of its net assets, plus borrowings for investment purposes, in emerging markets debt instruments (80% policy). It may also use a wide variety of derivatives instruments, including credit linked notes, credit default swaps, futures, and options.
The investment seeks to replicate as closely as possible, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the BofA Merrill Lynch Diversified High Yield US Emerging Markets Corporate Plus Index. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its total assets in securities that comprise the fund's benchmark index. The index is comprised of U.S. dollar denominated bonds issued by non-sovereign emerging market issuers that are rated BB1 or lower and that are issued in the major domestic and Eurobond markets.
The investment seeks to track the investment results of the MorningstarĀ® Emerging Markets Corporate Bond IndexSM composed of U.S. dollar-denominated, emerging market corporate bonds. The fund generally will invest at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and may invest up to 10% of its assets in certain futures, options and swap contracts, cash and cash equivalents. The index tracks the performance of the U.S. dollar-denominated emerging market corporate bond market.
