Description
The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation primarily through investment in equity securities of corporations domiciled in Far Eastern or Western Pacific countries, including Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and India. The fund invests at least 80% of its assets in a portfolio of equity securities of companies located in Far Eastern or Western Pacific countries. For the most part, these securities will be common stock and convertible securities. Many of the companies in which the fund invests are located in markets generally considered to be emerging markets.
The investment seeks total return with an emphasis on providing current income. Under normal market conditions, the fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing at least 80% of its net assets, which include borrowings for investment purposes, in dividend-paying equity securities of companies located in Asia.
The investment seeks growth of capital over the long term. The fund normally invests at least 80% of assets in securities of Pacific Basin issuers and other investments that are tied economically to the Pacific Basin. It invests primarily in common stocks. The fund allocates investments across different Pacific Basin countries. It uses fundamental analysis of factors such as each issuer's financial condition and industry position, as well as market and economic conditions, to select investments.
