The investment seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund seeks to achieve its investment objective by creating a diversified portfolio of emerging market equity securities. It will normally invest at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings made for investment purposes) in equity securities and equity-related instruments, and the fund will normally invest at least 80% of its net assets (plus borrowings made for investment purposes) in securities of companies that are tied economically to emerging market countries.
The investment seeks to provide investment results that correspond to the total return of emerging stock markets. The fund normally invests at least 80% of the fund's assets in securities included in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index and in depository receipts representing securities included in the index. The adviser uses statistical sampling techniques based on such factors as capitalization, industry exposures, dividend yield, price/earnings (P/E) ratio, price/book (P/B) ratio, earnings growth, country weightings, and the effect of foreign taxes to attempt to replicate the returns of the index.
The investment seeks to track the investment results of the MSCI Emerging Markets Investable Market Index. The fund generally will invest at least 90% of its assets in the component securities of the underlying index and in investments that have economic characteristics that are substantially identical to the component securities of the underlying index. The index is designed to measure large-, mid- and small-cap equity market performance in the global emerging markets.
