The investment seeks to achieve a high level of current income with capital appreciation as a secondary objective. Under normal circumstances the fund's sub-adviser seeks to achieve the fund's objective by investing at least 80% of its net assets (plus the amount of borrowings, if any, for investment purposes) in floating rate loans or floating rate debt securities. It can invest in senior loans of any maturity and quality. The majority of the fund's total assets generally will be invested in loans or securities rated below investment grade, and the fund may invest without limitation in such loans and securities (commonly known as "junk bonds").

It invests in domestic and foreign issuers. The fund uses fundamental analysis of each issuer's financial condition and industry position and market and economic conditions to select investments.

Under normal conditions, the fund pursues its investment objective by investing at least 80% of its net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, in floating or adjustable rate senior loans. It may invest up to 25% of its total assets in senior loans made to foreign-domiciled borrowers and foreign securities, including emerging market securities. The fund may invest up to 20% of its net assets in other types of debt securities and short-term instruments. In addition, it may invest up to 10% of its net assets in derivatives.
